Research Organization C fore Conducted a Survey to Methodology for the Ranking of Medical Colleges in India.

A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Respondents were asked to:

    • Rate medical institutes they were familiar with using a 10-point scale across defined parameters.
    • Assign weightage to each parameter based on perceived importance.
    • The final weightage for each parameter was computed as the average of the weightages assigned by faculty members.

In total, 145 faculty members and 118 final-year students participated in the survey. To ensure objectivity:

    • Self-ratings by faculty for their own institution were excluded.
    • Institutes evaluated by fewer than 20 respondents were not considered for final ranking.

Following are the Parameters for Evaluation :

Faculty: design

This parameter evaluates the qualifications, training, and pedagogical expertise of faculty members. It also considers the institution’s commitment to supporting faculty development through:

  • Professional development programs
  • Fair compensation practices
  • Opportunities for collaboration and academic exchange

This parameter assesses the leadership qualities, vision, and integrity of the institution’s Director or CEO. It measures how effectively leadership:

  • Supports pedagogical systems
  • Promotes faculty development
  • Ensures constructive disciplinary practices and well-maintained academic routines
Leadership and Governance: design
Pedagogy and Curriculum Relevance: design

This parameter evaluates teaching methodologies and the alignment of the curriculum with contemporary medical practice. It examines:

  • Use of student-centric, evidence-based approaches (e.g., case-based learning, simulations, early clinical exposure)
  • Frequency and effectiveness of curriculum updates reflecting clinical guidelines, technological advancements, and national health priorities
  • Higher scores are awarded to colleges whose curriculum is modern, integrated, and practice-oriented, and whose teaching effectively builds clinical reasoning skills.

This parameter measures the quality, depth, and breadth of clinical training provided to students. It reflects how well the institution prepares students through:

  • Real-world patient care experiences
  • Adequate case diversity and load
  • Access to modern hospital infrastructure and equipment
Clinical Exposure & Hospital Facilities: design
Research: design

This parameter evaluates the institution’s research culture, including:

  • Volume and quality of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Faculty involvement in research initiatives
  • The academic and practical impact of research output

This parameter reviews the adequacy and quality of physical and digital infrastructure, including:

  • Campus and built-up area
  • Maintenance and cleanliness
  • IT-enabled classrooms
  • Laboratories and simulation facilities
  • Library resources (books, journals, digital databases)
  • Auditoriums, hostels, and student support facilities (including pastoral care)
Infrastructure: design
Placements: design

This parameter measures student placement outcomes, considering:

  • Placement percentage
  • Average salary packages
  • Profile and diversity of recruiting organizations

It also evaluates whether the institute’s fee structure is reasonable when compared to placement outcomes, education quality, and overall student support services.
